The Heroine: Costumes

Red and Blues

Spider-man's clone Ben Reily made himself into the scarlet spider to avoid stepping on Spider-man toes. He even created a new costume for himself. When he died he left his costume to Peter; this was the costume Mayday found in the attic that day. She put on the costume and became the costumed heroine known as spider-girl.

Ninja

Mayday found herself without a costume, but posessed spectacular new abilities which she used to discover that someone was following her father. She ruffed this person up a bit, and then followed him to his hideout. She later returned dressed up in workout sweats and a ski mask so as not to reveal her secret identity. This made her look like, as one person told the police, a Ninja. Later that night she decided to sew her own costume, which looks like the Red and Blues she wore for her preamble, the same style worn by Ben Reily.

In Spider-Girl #5 Spider-Girl went up against Venom, and even though things worked out in the end, Peter had become so worried about May that he decided that she is done being Spider-Girl. However, May cannot avoid her feelings of responsibilty for helping those in need and she again goes out to watch over the city. Her costume is gone it seems, and she wears the black Sweats again.

That's not the only sweats we see her in. In Spider-Girl #7 May wears some nice green sweats. At the end of that episode, May and her mother are in the attic, and they have a talk about dear old dad. May finally discovers why her father gave up the hero gig, and Mary Jane leaves May with a very big decision to make, and the Spider-Girl costume. It has been hiding in the attic since Peter took away her webs.

Shrunken

Due to a mistake at the cleaners (Well, actually, she did it herself) Mayday's costume got a little smaller in Spider-Girl #72. In fact they got to where they actually tore.

Black Costume

With her costume in shambles (shrunken and ripped) Mayday finally decides it's time to get a new one. She pops her head in the Spider-Girl memorabilia store. (I wish we had one of those) and comes out with a new costume, but it's not the Red and Blues, she decides it time for something new and goes with a Black costume with a white spider logo.

At this time she was allying herself with a known crime lord, the Black Tarantula, who was encouraging Spider-Girl in her fight against Lady Octopus.

May just can't keep her costumes nice, the mask of her Black costume gets almost destroyed. So she does the only thing left at that point, she goes out with a borrowed mask. Yep, She wears her Dad's Spider-Man mask with her new Black costume. It's pretty funny looking, and worth a few good laughs. It did get the job done though.

The Black Trantula provides Spider-Girl with a closet full of costumes, both the Red and Blues and the Black. So now it seems she shouldn't have trouble with her costume as she has plenty of replacements. She does however go back to the Red and Blues when she discovers the Black Tarantula's true purpose for helping our costumed heroine.

The Mole

Looking for intel and also trying to also to keep things under control, our girl decided to attend the funeral of one very influential villan in Spider-Girl #65. Figuring that Spider-Girl probably wouldn't be credible as an invited guest she decides to go under cover.
